Birthday, Two Weeks Late

Well, I made it home from my birthday trip to the Great Northwest and I am happy to report that it is just as good as ever. Time spent with family was just what I needed and the weather was amazing the entire time we were there.

We started the trip with a hike in the Columbia River Gorge and a good old suburban football game.

Then a stop in Portland for Voodoo Doughnuts and Powell’s books. These Were JB’s first doughnuts in 12 years since he went dairy free. We even found a vegan bavarian creme!

Next stop, Cascade Brewing for a tasting of some of the best sour beers on the planet. We even found one that tastes like champagne but better, because its beer.

Sunday was a trip to the Oregon Coast where we stumbled upon a kite festival.

Gifts included this amazing brass clutch from JB. He knew I had been wanting one for a while. He is hand sewing this one back together after finding it damaged at a flea market. Do I have the best guy or what? I have plans to wear it to a fancy cultural event this winter.

Last but not least, a Big Herringbone Cowl hand-knit by my bestie and some yarn for a Hitch from my sister.

All in all it was an amazing trip and I can’t wait to go back in a little over a month for Christmas!
